Eating Disorders Therapy London

Frequently Asked Questions:

"How long is each session and how often do I attend?"
Each counselling session is 50 minutes in length (unless you choose the Intensive Therapy services option).  In order to obtain the most effective results, regular weekly visits prove to be optimal.  When you make your initial contact, it would be helpful to have some appropriate appointment times in mind as possibilities for your regular weekly visits. Sometimes clients wish to attend biweekly or monthly to maintain or reinforce their personal growth (see Maintenance Therapy services option).

"What are your hours of operation?"
I am available for appointments Tuesdays to Fridays, 8:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.. Some evening sessions can be arranged.

"Where are you located?"
My private office is easy to find in Old North London. It's within walking distance to The University of Western Ontario, Fanshawe College and downtown.  It's on the Huron Heights bus route and there is ample free parking available.

"How long will I need therapy?"
The amount of time it takes to heal depends on many factors.  Some of these include the readiness for counselling; how long the eating disorder has been active (typically, the earlier the intervention, the less time needed for treatment); the presence of a secondary addiction, personality disorder or history of abuse; the accessibility of one's support system,etc...

"How long is your wait list?"
It varies; however, a one to two week wait time is common. If you require immediate care, please let me know upon contact.  If you are in a serious medical or emotional crisis, I advise you to seek help at your nearest hospital emergency room where they can best assess your short-term treatment needs.

"How do I pay?"
Payment by cash or cheque is due at the end of each session. Some clients prefer to pay for several sessions in advance. When financial constraints apply, a sliding fee scale will be offered.  Some workplaces have private insurance coverage, and you will need to contact your own service provider to find out if my counseling service is included in any coverage.

"What if I have to reschedule?"
I will be available to you as your therapist on the date and time we arrange at the end of each session. Please note that by scheduling your session, you reserve a space that becomes unavailable to anyone else.  Because there are only so many spaces available, if you have to reschedule your appointment time, you need to inform me by telephone within 24 hours in advance of your session. If less than 24 hours is given and the reason for the absence is not an emergency, then the regular session rate will be charged.

"Do you treat other issues?"
Although I specialize in eating disorders, I also have experience treating anxiety, depression, grief, suicide, abuse, relationship concerns, separation/divorce, single living and parenting, sexuality, and loneliness/isolation.
